under hood insulation
What is everyone doing for insulation under the hood of their mustang? I have a 66 coupe and just finished painting it and would like to protect the paint on the hood and lower the decibel level a bit.I was looking at some of the dynamat stuff but was wondering if I should just buy some of the jute material? If anyone has pics of what they used, that would be great.
Product from Second Skin called Motor Mat (and Motor Mat Pro) that I hear is really nice. Works great when its applied over the Damplifier Pro product to reduce heat, noise and vibrations. Few people have told me after a short highway drive the hood remained cool to the touch with this stuff instead of heating up. I'd go with the Motor Mat Pro as its closed cell foam.
I don't have any experience on hood insulation (yet!), but I'd strongly advise against Dynamat solely on the basis that it is ungodly overpriced and overrated. You can get similar material for many times less...
