Lights and Tac.
Alright so I have two problems that I have encountered:
1.) The headlights and dash lights in my 69 seem to pulsate (bright to dim) rapidly (at the speed of a calm heart beat) when I drive. Sometimes being more then others. Also it doesnt happen all the time, seems to be sort of random.
2.) The tachometer stopped working one day when I got in for a drive. I have never taken off the dash or anything and am new when it comes to electrical but am trying to learn.
Any help with these would be very helpful.

well a good first step is taking off your dash. see if you have any bad wires. there should be a few screws on the bottom of the dash pad, and like 3 up at the center of the dash pad where it meets the windshield. get those three, a few above your instrument cluster, a few above your passenger side glove box area, and one on each of the sides of the car, at the far extremes and bottom of the dash pad. unscrew a few, give a small tug and see where it still holding, then look for screws in that area. once you have it off, smell for bad wires or look for one disconnected or melted or cut.
my guess is you need a new circuit board, bout $75 at NPD... but no way of knowing for sure, just speculation. 69 70 circuit boards tend to go bad, and if its never been replaced, nows as good a time as any. its on the back of your instrument cluster and is attached to it.

I had the same problems with the lights on my 66. I replaced the voltage regulator (under the hood) with a electronic one. $25 bucks or so at Advance Auto and it solved the problem. The old ones are mechanical so they tend to flicker. The electronic ones have no moving parts so they stay steady.
I didn't do it with mine but on some you can take the cover off the old one and out it on the new one for a stock look.

Well I fixed the lights, it was just some corrosion on the lines.
BUT the tachometer still doesnt work I have yet to pull of the dash or anything. It seemed to happen after we took the car in, but nthat could just be a coincidence, well can anybody tell me where to start and what to look for? I found the coil and there are two lines on one side coming off and one on the other. Just a little confused why it isnt working.

Well i figured i would start from the source and work my way down. So here are some pics I dont know exactly what to look for, so your help is truely greatful. Should I just hook up another tac to see if it is the tac? What should I look for here and what wires are the ones that I need to check out. Also there is this weird contraption of two wires coming off hooked to a little dowl thing seen in the pics., what is this and is it a possible problem?

I have pull the cluster as seen in the photos and seem I cant find the problem, I am a little unsure as to what it is. Due to the fact that the speedometer works, along with the temperature and the fuel level. It seems in the pictures and while I was working on it that the wire is connected well into the back of the tac, but that little cylinder thing still leads me to some questions as to if that is the problem??? or something else but I am not sure. I will take a picture of the coil also tomorrow.
