I don't think that those panels are necessary. Having a tweeter down by your feet next to the carpet probably won't do any good. If I remember correctly, you want to always aim or reflect them to your ear level. I would go with the single speaker setup.
If you look at about every car audio competor the tweets are down by the feet with the woofer.

In order to set a truely quality audio system, you would have both the woofer and tweeter mounted in a location where they can both be directed in between the headrests. Also the centerline of the tweeter would not be more then 6 inches from the center of the woofer.

A coax setup is really the best option, but high quality coax's are very hard to find and generally you sacrifice a little midbass performance when the tweeter is mounted in the location of the typical phase plug.

I just build my own. They do not look stock, but will house even the deepest of speakers and do not interfere with my clutch operation. I'm out of town becuase of a family thing, but will post pics when I get back to town.

FYI, if you want to run a set of comps in a thin speaker pod like that you will need to get a little something like this.

Any of you guys wanting to upgrade make sure to get an external amp to power your speakers. Most comps like at least 100 watts a channel.

before you make that suggestion, I would see if this guy replaced his electrical system with a new one. If those are installed wrong or into the stock harness he will fry everything and hate life.

TOMKAT - I painted them with 65 red interior paint, I have only seen them in the black plastic. I drove it around for a while in black, but decided it just didn't look right so I painted them. So far the paint has held up nicely.

I have replaced my wiring harness, so no problem there.

I talked to the company's techs today. They told me that the kicks that I put on my first post in this thread would not work for me because they only have a 2" speaker mounting depth. But, they also told me that in a month or two they will be making a kickpanel exactly like that one but with a 2 3/4" mounting depth that will work for my application. If anyone has any questions, pm me or you can e-mail the company directly. They have pretty good customer service.

I got tired of just listening to my rear speakers so I said to hell with it and got a pair of cheap Pioneer 6.5" speakers and put in the kickpanels I already have. I partially installed them tonight, I just have to get some more connectors from the parts store tomorrow and they'll be done. I adjusted my 4-channel amp and they don't actually sound too bad. I am still going to use my Infinity components when the company comes out with the deeper kickpanels, but for now these are pretty good. I will try to post some pics tomorrow.
