67 Mustang Modification Questions
I have a 67 mustang and i have an 8.8 differential that came off a 95 mustang. What is needed to put this differential in the car? Also i have the complete efi motor , i want to convert the car to fuel injected, what specific harnesses, etc. are needed to make it work. If anyone have write ups on these topics it be great.
you will need to weld leaf spring perches in the proper location on the 8.8 rear end as they had coil springs, you will need to fab parking brake cables to work with it and probably a custom length/yoke driveshaft to make it work unless you are a good fabricator or can get it done cheap I would do an 8" or 9" with disc conversion or even big drums work really well thats just a bolt in , you will need a disc/disc MC as well. For efi you will need a donor car harness or an aftermarket harness, frpp, painless, ron morris, ford efi theres lots of them out there and the engine harness and all the sensors. Actually, I have an A9l computer and a stock harness modified for an early mustang if you are interested for a great price. PM me if your interested. I've decided to go another route on efi for my 408.

On the 8.8 rearend.... I dunno about it being more cost effective to find a good 9".... maybe the 8", but with the 8.8 you get factory disc brakes. It's not that bad of a swap.
To the OP,
Here's the best website hands-down for the EFI swap.

Don't let it scare you. It's all basic mechanics.

The 8.8 is a lot of work and its weaker then a 8inch so sell it get a 8 inch or 9 inch they sell both that bolt right in.

i have done the swap twice, no special driveshaft needed, no blah blah blah, no it's not weaker etc.
cut the old spring perches off, weld on new ones. make sure you get the pinion angle correct and you're all set. personally i don't have a parking brake on my car because i never park on hills or anywhere else so i scratched that. i bought a pinion yoke from inland empire for 40.00 (any local driveshaft shop should have one also) so i could use my original driveshaft. that was all that was necessary, and i've had no problems with it yet, only thumbs up for the swap.
