What to clean engine and engine compartment with?
I use degreaser form the auto parts store and my gas power washer.
1) Be careful around the fire wall, I got a really wet carpet the first time . Water came through a few grommets.
2) When done pop your Dizzy Cap and dry it.
The last time I cleaned mine I ran it for about 10 minutes to heat up and dry off. Then I drove to get gas. Everything was great until I pulled out across a three lane highway after getting gas. Somehow some water got under the cap and she died in the middle lane. Luckily I had enough momentum to coast to the shoulder. The guy in the very large dump truck coming at me at 60 mph must have thought I slowed down in the middle of the road for fun. He laid on his horn as he almost killed me.

+ one on simple green. Non-toxic too. Don't use high pressure water, you will remove paint and it will works its way into places you don't want it too. Just rinse with hose, get a bucket of water with simple green, was down everything with a rag and rinse again with garden hose. Brake klean, carb klean etc. will eat the paint. If you have some spots of oil or gunk that you nead to remove after washing with simple green, get some wax and grease remover and use it sparingly. Generally will not remove the paint or dull it, as long as you are not scrubbing the Sh** out of it. I use a little on a paper towel just to gently remove stubborn spots.
+ one on convering the distributor, carb and other electrical items.
Good luck.
