"Read it and I forget, Hear it and I remember, do it and I understand"... or something to that effect. not sure where I read that.
Nothing like a good class or a mechanically inclined friend to help you out.

They make some really inexpensive flaring kits that come with a spring assortment (to put over the line to keep it from kinking when you bend it). This sounds like a great oportunity to learn how to make flared lines.

Stop by a good autoparts store (Old school Napa type) in the middle of the day when they aren't busy. Tell 'em what happened, and that you want to "make" a new line to learn how. If they have time and the stuff to do it you just might get your first good lesson and make some very valuable friends. Offering a cold drink after the lesson doesn't hurt either.

If you can weasle you way into sweeping floors or helping out in the machine shop, you'll have one heck of a fun summer and learn a ton!

Good advice Scott. The more you are around knowledgable wrenchers, the more you will learn. It takes years to learn about wrenching Mustangs, but if you are not familiar with the workings of engines, etc. you could get hurt. The coil itself puts out around 40,000 volts. If you grab that sucker on the business end......well, I won't go there........
