Default Quick Question on Ignition System

I know it's been probably asked before but I wanted to get everyones opinion (those that want to give it).

I currently have a GM Distributor on my Mustang...

I'm going to be restomoding it and wanted to know which you thought would be better (and why).

MSD Ignition System or Pertonix Flamethrower II Ignition System.

I plan to change this out, hopefully sometime in the near future.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Depends on what you're going to do with the car. For a fun street car/daily driver, the Pertronix is an excellent choice. But if you plan on racing it, go with MSD or Mallory.

Just asking, but what's wrong with the HEI? I wouldn't voluntarily put one into a Mustang, but I don't think I'd take it out either without justification. It's a perfectly good system.

Well nothing wrong with the distributor on the car currently except it's really big compared to what's normally on a Ford and it looks out of place on the 302 in the car.

I'm really not planning on racing the car. Just want something reliable and easy to use. It does have a modified 302 in it currently.

69, Unless you just want to spend the money leave it as is. I agree with Tad.

Go with the MSD, but it typically has a red cap (you can change it). Some will say they have a high failure rate, but that's not my experience. However, you are just spending money. The GM is fine.
