Congrats on your first mustang! Your in for lots of up and lots of downs.. however keep it fun and you'll enjoy every minute of it!

1971mach1: My understanding is that most primers simply cover the car and do not seal it. However a 2 part Epoxy Primer does act as a sealer from what I have been told.

For my 600 dollar first stang I ended up with a faded red swiss cheese body, non-running 6cyl, and a dream of turning what others would throw away into a beautiful street/strip machine. Oh, and one very empty wallet.

You're way ahead of the curve and you've already got an interesting mystery. Congratulations

Well, I finnally got it home today. I didn't have time to get the parts out of the car and take interior pics. because it was fixing to storm outside. I did get some exterior pics. and then my camera died on me!...go figure. Anyways, I'm going to try to get the parts out this weekend and wrap them in a tarp on some pallets in my shed. Then I will take some more exterior pics. and get some interior ones too (also the engine bay). I did do my first job on it though. I dropped the drive shaft and zip tied it to the tail pipe so I could pull it home. I know it's not much work but it's my first work ever on a classic mustang and it being my first adds some more "specialness" to it. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about.

I dont know if you saw this question, or if I missed your answer, but does it have a bench seat in the front? It almost looked like that in one of your pictures.

Looks like fun. Get ready for some blood, sweat, and tears.... and an empty wallet.

Benches are kinda rare if I remember correctly, they are a love-hate kinda option. Some liked and some didnt.

Bench seat IS a rare option, and if you decide to go with bucket, there is probably someone out there looking for a bench frame. It's not for everyone, but I love it. Cake wrote a song called Stick Shifts and Safety belts. You can have your girlfriend sit closer to you with a bench seat. Cool!

6R07C103286 , Im pretty sure means 66, C-code means 2 barrel V8.... Which doesnt make sense with the four lug wheels. Did you get this from the dooor? Maybe your door has been swapped, the one on my car was. There will be another vin by the drivers side shock tower along the edge of the engine compartment.

I was researching the VIN & Warranty # & came back some weird results. The guy said it was a '65 but, the warranty # says it's a '66 & the vin says it was made in 9/1/65.
Also, it has a straight 6 in there but the warranty number says it's supposed to be a 289 2v v8. What do you guys think & what did you come up with on the vin & warranty #?

Oh, I believe the R means San Jose, CA built the car.
