Alternator rebuild... help!
Well... not actually a rebuild, but I took it apart to paint the housing. All went well until it came to putting it back together.
How do I get the brushes back in place? There is a spring underneath each brush that provides tension against the bottom contact spindle. Can anyone give me a tech tip on getting those spring loaded brushes back in place while dropping the center back in.

There is usually a small hole you can slip a allen wrench in to hold the brushes in place while you insert the center section. I don't have one in front of me, but that's what I'd be looking for.
Good luck!

Hmmm... I looked for a possible place for an allen wrench or any possible way to hold the brushes in place. Perhaps my alternator configuration is different from yours.
Anyone else have any suggestions?
