What size is the distributor shaft? There is a steel gear for it. You need to replace that iron gear quickly. They tend to be hardened on the outside, but softer inside and once they start to wear, they will quickly deteriorate spreading chunky death through out your engine. Do any of these fit your shaft (just to be clear, that is distributor shaft!)?

Its likely the thinner .468" gear size which has a replacement steel gear 85833. The 351w is thicker at .531"

Yes, you all are correct, the smaller gear with the .467 diameter will work. Guess I should spend the $40 and get one soon. I need to check mine out to see if its wearing too.

yeah man - unless your cam came with a pressed on iron gear (you might wanna call the cam manufacturer and find out before you touch anything) your gonna end up loosing the gear eventually.

we screwed up once on a BBC airboat motor and used the wrong gear - took it out in less than an hour of runtime and the customer was pissed LOL
