How do you put a 289 engine in

When you are putting in a 289 engine into a automatic tranny thats in the car do u install the torque converter on the motor 1st or on the tranny 1st

TC to the tranny, then engine to the tranny, then TC to the engine flexplate.

Hey Sgt, pay attention when you install the converter on the tranny. As you put it on the shaft, turn it. you feel it drop, then drop a second time. Also, make sure the converter drain plug lines up on the flywheel hole as you bolt up the converter and flywheel. If you're unable to smoothly bolt everything together, don't force it. stop, turn the converter and try again.
