Where is a good place to buy 540 springs with the 1" drop?

540 is the normal small block spring you cut them to lower it.

Negative. A) that's not a stock spring rate. B) cutting coils increases spring rate.

OpenTracker sells 540lb 1" drop springs for cheap. That's where I got mine.

If you cut a coil off of a 540lb spring, you will end up close to a 620lb spring.

I just went through all of this with my suspension. I decided to go with the 540lb 1" drop springs. From what I learned the 620lb springs are really stiff, and the gain in improvement isn't worth it unless you track the car.

I went to opentracker. They had the cheapest prices and they are nice people.

Also, I heard the same thing you said about the 620 being the diameter of the spring. I think that might be true, but most places list them by their spring rates.

Good point. Somebody please correct me if this is wrong, but I thought the number IDing the coil is the number of pounds it takes to depress the spring 1 inch. Shorter springs like Shelby 1" drops are sometimes stiffer by design by having a thicker, stiffer coil.

On a 70 (heavier car) i went with a 620 1" drop spring and it still sat higher than the 30+ year spring I took out. Car rides nice. Once I get back from paint plan on cutting 1/2 coil to get down 1 to 2"s. My guess with 520 on 65 - 68 will be the same situation will sit higher even with a 1" drop coil
