I am going to take my DS in and have it shortened and balanced. I have .500 inch free play now and the DS shop said I might be able to get by if I had a "strong" 1/2 inch plus. He said they recommend running .750 to 1.000 inch free play.
I asked about vibration and he said he has seen vibration caused by too much free play because of the reduced contact to the splined area.
$110 to shorten and balance and $20 for each U Joint installed.

Alright here is the part list so far. Let me know if you have a better part or a cheaper place in mind, or if I'm missing something.

T5 and Bellhousing - Picking it up next week

Flywheel HR-FW-1600 - http://www.themustangdepot.com/servl...-Manual/Detail (The ebay store) $104.99

Transmission Crossmember Modern Driveline - http://www.moderndriveline.com/catal...ss_members.htm $149.99

Cable Clutch Setup - (Haven't decided yet)
Modern Driveline - http://moderndriveline.com/catalog/clutch_cables.htm $259.99
Mustang Steve - #CK167 http://www.mustangsteve.com/cable.html $219.99

PMGR Started and Kit - PA Performance http://www.paperformance.com/scripts...?idproduct=350 $135.00

Clutch - (Suggestions please for clutch, its a stock 289)
Fidanza 1.0 Clutch Kit (Includes Pressure Plate, Clutch Disc, Alignment tool, Throwout and Pilot Bearings) - http://www.americanmuscle.com/fidanz...v8-clutch.html $179.99

And will figure out the driveshaft and yoke situation after trans is installed. I wonder if any of those places offers a military discount? That would be awesome.

I can't get a hold of Mustang Steve, would anybody know what else I would need or what specific kit I would need to make the setup work with the t5 bellhousing and 10.5" clutch? Do I need to get the clutch fork from the donor car?

Thanks James, I managed to get a hold of him just a bit earlier. He seems like a real good and knowledgeable guy, talked to him about his next project car which I'm blanking on right now, I think it was a 70's T-bird with a multiple Autolite 2100 setup. He also recommended the King Cobra Clutch, said it was the best on the market right now for street applications.

Good news, talked to the guy who is selling me the car, he pulled everything out together so I get everything.

And I looked up the King Cobra Clutch on Summit and oddly enough its cheaper on American Muscle, the sponsor site plus they provide the throwout bearing with it unlike Summit. Do they offer a discount to forum members?

Also for the clutch alignment tool is it one size fits all? Just get a Ford 1 1/16" and 10 spline tool?

Edit: Realized two plus two equals four.

Sorry for all the questions, this is the first time I have had to buy all this stuff without someone standing over my shoulder.

Don't feel sorry man...
It's fun to help out and see folks building their cars.
I had a bunch of questions when I did my car and some answers were costly but I finally built the car the way I wanted. Both in looks and feel.
You'll enjoy the 5spd swap immensely, no more of that 3000rpm crap at 65mph

Good choice on the King Cobra clutch... very reliable up to 400 horses and soft enough to the left foot.

The clutch alignment tool is available at AutoZone and the like if it's cheaper there...

Have fun.

Yeah I hope I don't owe this year either. But I hope after this I can attempt to assemble a FAQ to give to James when I do the swap.
