JBA 1650SJS - ceramic coated stainless steel mid length. Don't know why they wouldn't fit the Modern Driveline cable clutch since they do fit with the Mustang Steve cable. When headers interfer with the cable, it is at the bellhousing. With short/mid-length headers, you can route the exhaust away from the cable.

Default Headers

Got the Hedman 88300's today and they definately do not work. The fit is fine but #7 tube is directly in front of the hole for the cable. Really don't want to spend 5-6 hundred so I guess I'll have to settle for some shortys. Keep in mind I am using a 351 not a 302. So if the 88660 did not hit the valve cover, so far they are the only one's that do clear the cable! Any suggestions for one's that will work for me? Thanks

Well this sucks!!!

Don't any full length headers work with a clutch cable?

I know you have a 351. I'll have a 302. However, I bet the same problem that you just mentioned with the 88300 Hedman is still there.

What clutch cable do you have?

I may have to go with these.

Thats a damn good looking fastback you have. What color is it? My coupe is caspian blue.

Do you have a 302 in your car?

I don't want the hassle of ordering different headers to keep trying to see if they will fit.

Its too bad some of you have had to do so.

I think I'll probably just go with these JBA mid lengths.

Do you know if there is a 2.5 inch prefab H pipe that will work with these?

I'm wondering is the fact that you are trying to install 88300s on a 351 is causing the interference? I believe 88300 are meant for 302 and not 351W.

I just received my hedders yesterday, hedman 88300 not the ones I thought I had ordered. The bad part is that I don't have my 302 out of my donnor yet. I was really hoping to pull it today but a few things happened and I wasn't able to work on my car. Hopefully next sat. if you can wait I will let you know what happens.

what did you think you had ordered? What cable kit will you be using?

More than anything regardless of which cable kit we are using they all attach to the same place on the bellhousing so I dunno if the brand of the cable kit has much to do with it.

I thougt I had ordered the 88660, but the box says 88300 haven't opened the box yet. I still don't know much about what to use. I have seen the mustangsteve set up for the cable. I am defently going to go with a cable.

Sorry, missed this post. Thanks for the compliment, the car is also Caspian Blue. I have a Ford Racing B-cam GT40 5.0L crate motor. After driving it 500 or so miles on the carb, I swapped it to EFI.

JBA sells an H-pipe and a full exhaust kit for the early Mustangs. I have a Magnaflow, and while the fit and finish it top notch, it is too loud for my taste. Perhaps it is a fastback thing as I never noticed it to be that loud in the coupe or convertible.
