Thumbs up

With a inline fuel pump no matter what you do you hear it running or at least I do. Plus if your tank is low of fuel and you turn into a long corner or accelerate hard all the fuel will slosh away from the pickup tube and you will suck air/fumes and your car will stumble. With this pump http://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/pa...prod/prd84.htm , it has a tray that holds the fuel and the return line dumps fuel into the tray so that will never happen. Plus with the fuel pump in the tank you will not hear it as much, if at all as one out of the tank. I do not want people to know that the car has fuel injection in it at all. I left the 6 cyl emblems on it also. But the only give away is the GT140T on the side strip.

Default 1969 Tank in First Generation Mustang 1966

I also noticed that the new 1969 filler neck did not fit my 1966 Fastback. It would not bolt in due to the sharp angle of the neck hitting the panel and braces on the inside of the trunk.

I cut the 1969 filler neck shorter by taking a pie shaped piece out of the top of the 1969 filler neck and then welded it back together. I noticed a previous post cut the 1969 neck from the bottom and added a piece. Probably better idea to avoid shorting the neck. My method made the filler neck shorter so I had to use a longer filler pipe hose. I had two types on hand.

Minor adjustment of the tank spout was required.

Unmodified 1969 filler neck hitting 1966 trunk brace--would not bolt up:

Cut out pie shape piece of of 1969 filler neck--I did not measure exact amount:

Cut and welded 1969 compared to OEM 1966:

Comparison of two rubber pipe hoses--I had to use longer one:

Complete installation--neck sanded and satin cleared for protection:

Angliagasser what sending unit did you use in the 69 tank? Is it compatable with the gas gage in the car and is it acurate?

I'm using the '69 sending unit with the '69 tank and it reads correctly.

Any reason you didn't use the '70 tank which is 22gal. vs. '69 20gal.? A 25% increase vs. a 37% increase in fuel carrying?
I'm planning the '70 tank for my '67 and just wonder if there is an issue with the '70 I haven't read about?
