Default 1966 mustang

Thanks for info from previous post about car going dead sitting. Replaced voltage reg. same thing Un plugged voltage reg. over night battery didnt run down until I hooked voltage reg. back up then it doesnt have enough fire to start. Any more thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks Steve

You have a very large load taking your battery down over night (or a battery with just a top level charge on it) Close the car doors and unhook the neg battery terminal, slowly connect it and look for a spark (that indicates a drain). two ways to do this from here:
1st (best way) get an ammeter of at least 25 amps, hook it up in series with the negative terminal, and look at the actual drain current. If more than .5A that's a load. Start disconnecting components in the car and look for a light that shouldn't be on

(if less than .5A, it 's in the battery, replace it.)

second way start disconnecting all of the electrical components in the car, pay attention to things like glove box and trunk lights.
