Default Hey guys

I know this isn't a mustang, but I figure you guys will know better than anyone else on this site.

My brother has a 1969 Torino with a 351w and he is looking to increase performance. Right now it has a 2 barrel carb and the stock exhaust. Right now it has a 3 speed automatic and we plan to bolt in an AOD.

He is wondering what a good 4 barrel carb would be, a good exhaust set up, gears for the rear diff as well as a high flow air cleaner.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

Here are some pics for those interested:

500 cfm holley carb with electric choke, 4 bbl intake manifold (more expensive the better, generally speaking) magnaflow or flowmaster exhaust should at least get him going. What rear end is in it?

in my opinion, 500 cfm is too small for a 351. something closer to 650 should be a little better. if your going AOD then you can go pretty low on the gearing, but 3.50:1 is a pretty good setup. i dont know what the stock stall is on the torinos but the mustangs were around 1800 i believe, changing that would help out too. get a nice set of headers, tri y's arnt too much and they are good for low rpms on the street. a nice dual plane manifold, they arnt too much either. a tune up does wonders too, new points, condenser, spark plugs n wires. you could pull that power steering pump off and get an electric fan for less stress on the crank, but thats not necessary, just an idea

I'd go with a Holley 600 and Edelbrock RPM intake

There are a lot of opinions for the carb size but this might help in your decision.

Keep it under 5500 and a 500-600 is perfect. Hope I helped.
