efi swap questions
I am in the middle of doing this swap, well actually I have been trying to get it done but has been a while. I have the engine installed and trans, still need the fuel tanks and wiring with small little things that come up. The wiring I have been studing it since Jan. it looks like it is hard but after reading many, many site and looking back and forth it looks like it might not be that complicated don't know yet. since I haven't actually cut, and soder wires will know when it is actually time to fire her up. About the speed density to mass air, I have read that if you plan on keeping the engine "stock" you don't have to worry about it, it will run and work fine. The only reason why people prefer mass air is that you can do little mods with out having to reprogram your computer or messing much with it( other words just change something and the car will accept the mods and keep running well. If you plan on keeping from making changes to your SD you don't actually have to change it to MA. That is some things I learned from looking around for the efi swap.
Whether it's SD or MAF it still needs to be tuned for best performance any time changes are made. And there are plenty of cars on this forum that are quite modified that run SD. If you can solder and don't mind learning, you could go with Megasquirt, which is still SD but highly flexible. It's cheap cuz you build it yourself, it's sort of a learning experience, but a powerful system for cheap.
