Default Back from the dyno :)

Hi friends,

I am back from the dyno and here are the results! The two first runs showed 240 and 241 rwhp and indicated that I was running too rich (AF between 10.5 and 11.5 in the 4000 -> 5500 RPM range). Then changed the jets and played with the timing, it went to 256. They were convinced that they could get more and noticed that my air filter was small / bad quality. They changed it to a 3" (as opposed to the 2" I had) and it went to 269 rwhp which is the final score They double checked and go the same result after 5 minutes.

I had a great time and I guess I can admit now that my 289 is really healthy! For those interested, everything is in my signature.

Not bad

Here is a quick video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxJj4TqoxoM

Thanks!

7 more rwhp than I figured, haha.

Not bad. What was the tq and what was the AFR at peak power/torque?

That whining is the roller for the dyno, btw. Some of them are freakin LOUD.

The torque was 279 at 4050 and above 250 pretty much all the time. AF ratio was around 11.8 I believe at peak hp.

Hi Remi,

that's great news. you are at about 75% of what desktop dyno predicted for engine. Since that is not BHP and you measure rear wheels it seems quite accurate to me.
Although the desktop dyno predicted peak torque at 4250, not 4050. What was the rpm @ peak HP? 5500rpm?
Can you post the resultsheet and I'll upload the desktop dyno for your car so we can compare the difference. I'd be interested to see that on real life example
What I find mad is that everyone had it in the same 20+-HP area :-)

.... and of course congratulations!

11.8 is way too rich for best power in a n/a engien. If the engine will tolerate it, you need to be at 12.5-13.0:1.

that 11.8 was probably before the tuning

yes leaning it to 13.0-13.8 could yield even more, so your making over 1hp per cube fwhp thats a strong but mild mannered 289, you should pull really good mpg's hwy as well.....good job! The combo works well.......get rid of those "slowmasters" and I would bet you could pick up another 15hp with good muffs.

I'd say that thing is 330flywheel (without power robbers like alt etc) maybe just over 300BHP?
