Default Help with new wheels

Hi, now that I have my 67 coupe for the most part put together , I have started thinking about getting a good set of wheels. I don’s have much experience with wheel/tire combos and don’t want to run into any issues with fitment. I am leaning toward 15-inch magnum 500s but am not sure if I should go with 7in width or something else. I don’t need a high performance setup; I just want a size that will give the car a more aggressive look. Also, do I need to worry about backspacing? What do you guys think about the 500s and what wheel/tire size would you recommend?

Sorry if my question seems stupid or redundant but given the size of the investment I want to make sure I get it right.

Thanks, Adam

I have Magnum 500 15x7 wheels on mine. I love the way they look. I have 215 60 15 front and 235 60 15 rear.

I would suggest running 225 60 15 all around. You could also run 225 front and 235 rear. You could also run 215 front if you don't have power steering and want the steering wheel easier to turn. If you do go with 215 front then put 225 rear. I hope that makes sense.

The stock backspacing that most of the Mustang shops carry will work.

Thanks for the reply, I think you ansewed all of my questions. I will look into sizes you recommended. I feel a lot better about what I should get now, especially after seeing the pictures of your car with the 500s. Very nice!

It starts with the look...what are you after? There are a lot of "good" wheels, that will give the car very much different looks. Ralley wheels, magnum 500, torq thrust, custom wheels are all really nice wheels, but gives the car a different look.

The wheels should be consistent with the overall look of the car...stocker, old school racer, modern look etc. In my opinion 15 inch wheels only look good on cars that are going for the bone stock look. With the big wheels of today (Civics come with 17"), a 15" wheel with a tall tire looks very retro. I went with a look that is old school, with a modern look; a bigger wheel (16"), but with a torq thrust look from Vintage Wheels (Vintage 45's). Good Luck
