That is cool to hear. I am glad you still have it. Thats a great looking car.

I like NPD as well.

I got most of my parts from Mustangs Unlimited, but have bought from all of these and a few others.

Mustangs Unlimited is good too. They have some restomod parts as well. CJ Pony Parts has some restomod parts too and they offer good prices and free shipping on certain days. Their only problem is sometimes taking forever to ship stuff or backorder. Mustangs Plus has some cool stuff too.

Virginia Mustang and California Mustang are good for concours or OEM style parts mostly.

If your car has sat that long, I would replace the gas tank. would probably replace the radiator for good measure. I would also service all the fluids and filters and replace belts and hoses and of course the basic tune up stuff. I would probably change the oil a second or third time after driving it a little bit. You'll need to rebuild or replace the carburator. If you have an autolite carb, I would probably rebuild it. Alot of guys love the Autolite 4 barrel carbs. I've never had one but heard good things about them.

Nice car, great story.

I prefer NPD for all the reasons mentioned, Mustangs Unlimited leaves a bit to be desired in my opinion.

While you're into the brakes I would consider switching over to a dual bowl master cylinder for the increased safety it provides. A MC for '74 Maverick with disc/drum bolts right in, rod and all, and is available from NAPA for about $80. You can get the proper proportioning valve from NPD.

Good luck freshening the old girl up.

Why don't you like MU? They seem to have good stuff. At least all the stuff I got from them was good. I think NPD is a great place to get parts from.

I think it can be more of a crap shoot with MU than with some of the other vendors. I received mislabeled axle u-bolts from them and haven't have great experiences dealing with their customer service. I live close to their Connecticut store so I have and will use them, but it's a crowded market and I just think other vendors (NPD) seem more knowledgeable and customer orientated.
The guys at MU are nice enough people to deal with, it's more that they seem to be just employees as opposed to car guys, getting any real information from them about the products they carry usually isn't going to happen.

I do NPD and Johns Mustang. My 65 was a one owner from January 65 to August of 2007 when I bought it. It had not seen much use for about 15 years. Immediately, the radiator and brakes went. In addition all the belts and hoses were bad. The rubber parts and radiator just do not age well when unused. Is it now possible that I am no longer the "old man" on the forum at 57 (nearly 58)?
