Default Help with Heads....

Hey Guys, looking for a little advice. I have seen some pretty cheap complete head kits on ebay and i am really considering upgrading my setup but dont' want to make a stupid mistake. I have a 1968 Mustang with a crate 302. It has an edelbrock carb, and performer RPM intake. ALso i have headers and full exhaust. Like all of us here i want more power. I saw the ProComp 160CC/60CC Aluminum heads which was a complete kit....what kind of HP woudl that add to my setup and also what kind of Cam would be matched best with that? Also i have also never installed heads on my own, if they are a complete kit, is it as easy as unbolt and rebolt? Obvoiusly i would change the gaskets....Thanks in advance you guys are a great help. James

Pro Comp heads are cheapos. They'll make more power than stock, but the quality isn't great. The question is how much performance do you want and how much are you willing to spend.

The honesty is what i am looking for, thank you! I guess I don't have a # in my head. I guess my goal really is to pick up a solid 100HP, which on my set up does not seem incredibly hard. I do NOT want Nitrous, so my thoughts were Heads and a Cam and i am in there...how much do i need to spend on WHAT heads to get me there? I am not concerned about aluminum or what not, Iron is fine, as long as they are not "cheapos" and they perform....Thanks agian for your input!!! James

Dart makes iron heads that aren't too expensive, and perform well. You could also search for some good used heads. Personally, I wouldn't put cheap heads on any car of mine, too many things that could go wrong.
