Need dome real world info....

On my '66 when I turn on the parking lights the front marker/turn signal lamps on the front valence light up. When I turn on the headlamps the marker lamps go out. In both cases the turn signals work. My manual isn't very specific and following the wiring diagram looks like they should be on.

My question being are the marker lamps supposed to be on with the headlamps or not. I don't have another car nearby to check and I'd like to be sure before ordering a switch or tearing into the harness. Can someone please check theirs for me?

That's normal. They are "parking lights", and the switch was more complex to make them work that way. Years later, regulations changed, and all lights had to stay on all the time. Some people alter their wiring to make earlier cars work that way. I wouldn't bother.
