Default Getting my first Mustang, give me pointers

I am geting a 1970 Mustang Coupe with a 302. The car is emaclate. This is my first muscle car, I only driven cars that are 95+. So going back 30 plus years, what are some things I have to get use to now? Im not talking about powered windows etc.

The brakes have not been converted, so how does the OE brake system compare to todays brakes? That was my main question, and anything else I should look out for?

If you have drum brakes all around, and you drive the car alot, you might want to think about a front disk brake swap. Its pretty inexpensive for something as important as brakes. The drums on my '67 could be considered a safety hazard...but they might not be properly adjusted at the moment. You might already have front disks though, so I dont know. Besides that, your car will be fun as **** to drive, so thats what you need to be ready for.

Get the factory service manual, even if you don't do the work yourself you'll know more about repairs than many local repair shops.

I agree with the factory service manual, I'm waiting for my new one to come in the mail today. You could pretty much rebuild a mustang with it from scratch lol. Also join a bunch of mustang forums, this one is good, plus I would look into joining a local mustang forum/club, they are good for finding out about local events/parts/stores.

I wasn't sure if you knew this already or not, but unless the fuel pump has been switched to electric (which it most likely has not) you need or should pump the gas pedal 3 times if you haven't started the engine in roughly a day or more. Another thing, when you go to fill'er up for the first time use paper towels or something similar below the gas cap to catch any drips. Me (and apparently other people too) find it difficult to fill up without leaking a little before finding the 'sweet' spot where no gas drips, but you may not have this problem. The highbeam switch is a metal button on the left side of the drivers side floor (below the parking brake). Push the wiper dial to squirt washer fluid. Thats about all I can think of right now, but welcome to the family of mustang owners! Oops guess you already knew some of this, sorry!
