Default 69 Headreasts

Hi, Does anybody have a picture of the top of the seat frames where the factory headreast bracket attaches on the 69 low-back bucket seats? I am trying to put 69 headreasts onto 68 seats and need to get an idea of how to mount them. Thanks.

You'll need the internal brackets from a 69 seat. Or just use the 69 seat backs.

Or just buy the entire car.

OK seriously, along with the internal bracket, there's a square plastic bezel (interior color) that rests on the top of the seat back where the headrest post enters. You can fabricate/weld these items, but it would be very difficult. If you get '69 seats, it would be the easiest way.

The skins from a 68 would work on a 69 if you cut a slit in the top. They are basically the same skin. Good luck.

The headreasts that I bought came with the plastic piece and the plate/slide/mount (whatever you want to call it). Which is the piece that mounts to the seat itself. I just kinda need a picture of the placement of it. Thanks.

Nobody has pictures of seat frames with headreasts? I'm drawing a blank with how these mount. Thanks.

I don't want to derail this but I have a question regarding the headrests on a 68. I have a 68 coupe that my wife purchased from the original owner in 1981. It has headrests on the seats. In the early 90's I asked a mustang parts vendor about them as I had never seen another 68 with them and he said that was a rare option. The car we have is a very early build car August 67 I believe and heavily optioned. Was this truly a 68 option or was it something added later?

Factory vinyl seat covers only last >10 years on a driver before they start to tear. It's p[ossible that the car might have had '69 seats swapped out at some point since the '69 was the first to offer the tuck and roll style vinyl seats with floating headrests. I've never seen that seat as a 68, and I've dealt with over 40 Mustang vendors. It's possible, of course.
