James, ditch that air "filter," if you can even call it that. Please. Those things don't filter for crap, and they can be small fire hazards if you backfire up through the carb. Really, they shouldn't be on anything that actually runs.

Since your air cleaner has a functional ram air, an Xstream top would be even better.

I don't really care for those triangle shaped filters from Edelbrock and Wiend. I have heard alot of people say they are restrictive. I don't know for sure though.

That is a very large picture!

I have a 65 with a 302 and Edelbrock performer intake with Edelbrock 650 carb. I have a 7/8 drop base with a 3 inch air cleaner. This is what I have. The drop base clears my electric choke.

I also have a Pertronix billet distributor that is taller and it clears the air filter.

K&N 66-1401XP - K&N X-Stream Air Flow Top Plates – SummitRacing.com

K&N 85-3545 - K&N Air Filter Bases – SummitRacing.com

I went this route because I wanted the Xstream setup but wanted a chrome top. The Xstream kits are only available with the black top with a chrome base. I think they need to match.

Here is mine.
