What you did looks good and if it sounds fine then no need to change for now!

if you build a box like i did you're going to need to build the wood floor for the pockets as well so it has a full floor to sit on. You might be able to get away without it, but that small trunk surface in the corners might not suffice.

you can also mount the amp to the back of the sub box like i did, that way all the wires and the amp is out of the way, making for a cleaner install. But if you like the look of the exposed amp then using the back seat area as a mounting board would be great, but that's just a matter of personal taste so do what you want!

PM me if you want more pics of my setup or tell me to post in this thread.

Since you have a coupe though isn't your trunk bigger? maybe you can design a cool box to fit up against the rear seat area and facing outwards. I'm not sure how it would sound though

Oh and since it looks like you don't want to be removing the wood panel then velcro on the edges would probably be a good bet so you can take the carpet out easily if you need access underneath. If not, definitely use some 3M spray adhesive, good stuff!

Its all about 6x9's and a 55x4 watt stereo in classic mustangs. Subs are over kill imo

I have allways been a sub woofer guy. I like my music clear and precise and have found that adding a sub to any of my past stereo systems and tuning it via the eq or a crossover to the right freq. band really can clean up the sound and fill it in.

4reboy: please do add your specs to this thread.. I was just thinking that =I might build a box.. maybe even fiberglass to fit the back seat area in the trunk. but i dont know just yet..

6X9's are not the best, ever seen an oval drum set? nope! neither have I, round speakers sound much better, a good set of 6 1/2's will sound better than 6x9's.

I agree completely. I never much cared for overpowering bass. I think a good setup is the Mach 460 that our 97 Cobra has or the Bose in our Maxima.

I'm not against subs though. I just don't see the point to 1000 watt amps and all that stuff.

I don't agree with this. I have heard several classic Mustangs with a pair of 6.5s in the rear and many more with 6x9s. The 6x9s always sound better. They may not be perfect, but they sound great to me.
