Default Difference in transmissions??

Is there a difference between a t-10 4-speed a toploader 4-speed or are they both the same? If there is a difference, how can you tell the two apart?

Thanks

I believe the difference is where the inspection cover is, on top is a top loader, and on the side (where the shift forks go) is a T-10. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

The toploader is the stronger design.

Correct.

T-10's also have lighter internal components, allowing them to shift a little faster. The close-ratio aluminum T-10's found in some early Shelbys are in very high demand. They're light and they shift quickly, making them a great road racing transmission.

Toploaders are built like tanks, though, and will take much more torque.

Does anyone have a picture illustrating the differences mentioned below?

I'm not sure what you guys are talking about. Sorry guys, I'm still a newbie.

Toploader & T-10

This is an easy Google search with tons of info and pics. You will see the toploader has a housing cover on the top of the case, hence 'top'loader. The Borg-Warner T-10 housing cover is on the drivers side of the case.
