Default 1965 insterment Bezel

I started a restore on a 65 mustang coupe and noticed the insterment bezel is silver and not the typical black with chrome. It dosent apeared to have been painted during a past restore but i wanted to ask if this was an option for this car or an afermarket part. Any sugestions?

The color of the plastic was whatever the factory felt like using up that day, since the entire part was vacuum metalized (the chrome appearance) then the black parts were painted.

Is this something that i should keep with the car or start fresh with what it should have in it. I just have never seen this before.
