Default Gangster Lean...

I recently noticed my car has a slight gangster lean to the left. which is kinda odd because all suspension parts are no more than a year old.

Any ideas what could be causing that? maybe one of the shackles is tightened too much? frame damage?

Only thing I would think is more weight to that side of the car and that sides suspension is settling more. Mine does it, but I have original suspension.

Loosen all of the leaf spring bolts (on both sides), then tighten them back up. Also, did you make sure do position the coils in the saddles properly? The end of the coil has to sit in the saddle properly or it screws things up.

Shift the body in the trunk to the left and the gangster lean will correct itself.

It could also be that the frame is tweaked from an old collision. If so, a lean would be more noticeable after installing new suspension equip.

well, i finally had time to go out and try to figure out my problem. did what tad suggested to no avail. set it back down and still have a 1/2 lean to the left.

laying under the car its obvious what it going on. the passenger side shackle is not swinging to the rear as far as the driver's side shackle is, thus the drivers side sitting lower.

a while ago i had to take it to a welder so he could weld the metal tube (that holds the upper shackle mounting) back into the frame rail cause it was broken, im thinking maybe as the shackle is trying to swing backwards its hitting his welds.

its either that or the two springs have settled at drastically different rates, which i doubt.

ugh

what im gonna do for now is loosen the shackle bolts up nearly all the way off, then support the left side of the car by the frame rail, and support the right side of the car by the leaf. gonna leave it like that for a month or so, not drive it at all, then we'll see what happens.

if indeed it is nothing more than the left spring settling faster than the right one, a month of having a load on the right leaf and no load on the left one should even things out...hopefully.

Check inside the trunk, quarter panels to see if there's been any previous body work. Sounds like the car has been hit from the rear pushing the rear shackle forward and up. Exactly what happened to mine. You'll get off easy if it's just a bushing tube and saggy leaf.
