I believe you would need the spacers on at least the front end. My car has 05 Mustang wheels but I have the granada front spindles and disks so not sure how wide your spacer would be. My front spacers are about 1.5 inches. My rear end came out of a fairlane so it is wider than stock. I do not have spacers on the rear.

Which wheel are you talking about? While there are spacer/adapters available for just this conversion, most of these wheels are imitations or derivatives of original classic wheels for these cars. The originals require no such adapters, making your life simpler and safer.

Hmmm… A "Bullit" replica. That makes it an imitation of the "Bullit" wheel, which is itself a replica of the Torque Thrust D, so that'd be a replica of a replica.

This wheel is a 17x8" "D":

The 05+ wheels have 6.29" backspace. I put a set of 06 GT wheels and tires on my 65. I used 1" spacers in the front and have an Explorer rear end, which is 2" wider than the 65. With the factory 235/55 17 tires I had about 3/16" inside clearance on the back. The front tires rubbed the fender when I turned. The tires are just too tall for a 65/66. If you buys some take-off wheels with tires, you will need to get new tires.

The 99-04 Bullitt wheels have 5.72" backspacing. I put on some 01 wheels (new from Ford Racing) and they have perfect clearance on the back (about 5/8" inside with wider 245/45 17 tires) and on the front I put 225/45 17 tires (with a 1" spacer). It is a much better fit, but used 99-04 wheels are harder to find in good shape (lots of curb rash in 5 to 10 years). I think Ford Racing sold out the last of the new ones recently. I bought mine from Summit for $99 each with shipping (about a year ago).

Yeah there is so many wheel companies out there and most will do custom back spacing.I won't ever run a spacer i don't trust them i have seen one sheer the lugs off before.
