Default Electric water pump

Having my engine rebuilt and considering an electric pump upgrade. I have a 68 289 that now has a 302 rods and crank. If I get an electric pump, is it easy to just get new belts to run the alternator and power steering pump or do I have to get some kind of kit and idler pulley? The engine is still in parts so cannot check out my block with those items installed.

It's a waste of money on 99% of street engines. Unless you're built to the hilt and searching for power in every last possible place there's no need. They do have their advantages, but a mechanical is fine in most applications. To answer your question though you can get the pumps with or without a built in pulley and either run the belt to just the alt and p/s pump(if it doesn't interfere with the water pump) or get a pump with a pulley and use that as a centrally located idler. If you do get one go with a Meziere.
