Default Driver Side Suspension

I noticed Saturday that the rubbing of my tires seemed to do it more often (going to roll the fenders soon) than usual so I started looking a little closer and the space between the top of wheel and front drivers side fender is less than the passenger side.. I cant even get a finger around it without rubbing the fender but on the passenger side I can. What you think would be the cause of this? Springs, shocks? I am going to take it to a shop just to make sure I know what is before doing anything but I wanted to get some ideas first.

Thanks!

Make sure you check this on an absolutely flat surface. If the car sits lower on one side, it's the springs. Usually the coils are responsible, since they are stronger, but anything is possible. The shocks do not affect this, unless the car is equipped with air shocks, in which case get rid of them, fast.

If the wheel is farther out on one side, it's a wheel alignment situation, and needs a closer look.
