Default repainting gt wheels

does anyone know if there is a template available to repaint the GT wheels. I am doing a restoration for my brother (who was KIA in Iraq) and I got some wheels and tires for pretty cheep. The wheels had some descent amount of rust and the original paint was chipping. The chrome was in pretty darn good condition. I have one painted but I didnt like the color, I plan to order the charcoal metalic paint from a resto shop. it took me over an hour to tape off the chrome and I would like to try to cut that time down.

The only template available is for the Magnum 500 wheel. I made one out of steel for mine, and sprayed one hole at a time. The idea is to avoid the sharp edges tape leaves, since the original wheels were painted with a mask.

definately not those wheels. do you happen to have a picture of your home made template? Interested in renting it out ?

here is what I have. I used elec tape to get the edge but I dont like the outcome, nor the color that I picked. Ill be ordering the correct paint.

I would think that there would be a template available for the style steel wheels since there is one for the Magnums. Ask some Mustang shops.

Don't use electrical tape. I have had the best results with the automotive painters tape (green masking tape). If nothing else, use painters tape (blue masking tape).

The reason I used the electric tape was for the form and line of the curved edges because it is flexible, kinda like pin striping tape. I covered most of it with painters tap and covered the rest of the rip with painters tape and paper. But I will be making a call on monday to a resto shop

I'm very sorry for you, your family and your Brother's family. May he rest in peace.
