kalli, have you tried the TA radials lately? BFG totally re-designed them so you might be totally suprised by them. Better sidewall (I think they call it g wedge) which means much better cornering and a new tread pattern for much better grip while still keeping the high mileage compound so they last more than 10k miles. Clearly they are not designed for wet weater so probably a poor choice for daily driver but for good weather driving, I think they are fine. And nobody will argue the TA radials just say muscle car! Oh and if you like to do the occasional burnout (like I do) they are a good choice since they hold up better than anything else I've tried.

The Radial T/A's are still Radial T/A's. Same crappy tread design. There are Traction T/A's that are completely redesigned, which are an all around better tire, but size selection in 14's and 15's is sparse.

T/A just means 'Traction/Asphalt,' or something like that. T/A isn't any one specific tire.

I agree with BA the Summis cant be beat for the price. If you are not doing any track time these tire cant be beat. I run em on my 65. The Pilot Sports are probably the best but I say best as far as track time or traction period. I run em on a Cobra which weighs 2200 pounds and run 550 HP and they grip like a son of a b*&^tch! Go to tirerack Simmis are cheap!! Ryan

The BFG g-Force Super Sport A/S series is what we have. Tire Rack currently has the 16" tires on sale 92.00 to 114.00 depending on size. Between Jersey now and Canada last week we've driven through driving rains, light snow on frozen roads and 72* dry roads. Great tire.

Those tyres are fantastic for burnouts, but nothing else. no cornering, braking is slipping, accellerating is slipping and on a wet road they are simply dangerous

I don't completely agree with the TA's being bad tires. They have been redesigned several times. They may not be the best tires, but they do just fine on the 65. I know there are better ones.

When I have applied the brakes hard, the car does not lock up and slide. I have taken corners fairly fast and had no issues.

I have BFG TA's on my 95 F150 right now and it does great in the rain compared to the BFG All Terrain tires I had before. Those would hydroplane. The TA's also do better than the Good Year Wranglers that came on it. They actually perform better than any other tire I have had on my truck. The next time I need tires for my truck I will be getting Michelin LTX MS truck tires though. Also, with the TA's my truck can corner really well and doesnt break traction.

Radial T/A's are horrible for performance and worse in wet weather. I guarantee if you drive your car really hard then swap to a decent set of tires, you'll notice a huge difference. The sidewalls are very soft and fold over in corners and the tread design is mediocre at best. The tires simply cannot compete with anything modern.

You can't compare Radial T/A's to All Terrains. That's comparing apples to oranges. All Terrains are designed for dirt and mud, not pavement. In addition, soft suspension will make up for a little poor tire traction. You're not likely to notice as much in a spongy F-150 or stock-suspension '65 as you would in a car with stiffer springs, and if you don't drive the car hard, you'll never notice until an emergency situation when you really need that traction.

I have Radial T/A's on my '67fb and I hate them. While performance driving, I'm all over the road and the r/r tire is spinning constantly around corners. It just started getting into the rainy season here, which means I have to be ultra careful. Getting the car moving from a stop without spinning the r/r tire is a chore, and keeping it on the road at speed takes some concentration. It was pouring rain and gusting up to 40mph last week and I almost got blown of the road. I'd hit a puddle and hydroplane towards a k-barrier or the wind would just push me 3 feet sideways. It's not quite that bad if it's not windy, but I still hydroplane and skid around a lot.

These BFG's are pretty kick ***. I like em and after much research, these are the one's I chose. Nice tread and it has an aggressive look to the tire. I don't really care about tread or tire life, when they wear out, I'll get new one's. This isn't a 20,000/year mile kinda car anyways.

I don't think the TAs are that bad in wet weather. Like I said I have them on my truck right now and it does just fine in the rain. I can compare the TA's to the AT's since they were on my truck and they are designed for highway use. I never intended to say they should be used on a car. I was just trying to say that out of all the tires that have been on my F150 the TA's have been the better ones overall.

I never said they were the best, just that they are good. If they are built well enough to keep my 95 F150 planted on the road especially at highway speed on the curves on the flyovers then I think they are sufficient. I think the Michelin truck tire is better suited for the truck and lasts much longer, so I am going to change.

Your entitled to your opinion, and thats ok if you don't like them. I have done some "experimental" driving in the 65 with the TA's and can not say anything really bad about them. They are decent.

I don't have any of the hydroplaning issues with them. I agree that the Michelin pilots are much better. So, there are better tires out there. I never tried to say they were the best.
