Default SEM Colorcoat for Plastic?

I bought this "paint" that is color-matched for my car, thinking it was an interior paint for metal. It says it is for Vinyl, Plastic, carpet and velour (???). These are all items that do not hold paint very well. I've seen people paint headliners and interior plastic just to have it peel a day later. And carpet and velour??? just somethings I wouldn't consider putting paint or die on.
Anyhow, this product is SEM Universal Color Coat Flexible coating in an aerosol spray. Not a die, not a paint. (?) SEM is a good name and I can't imagine them selling crap. Most Mustang restoration places sell it, so it must work?
The only part I think I would try it on are the plastic kick-panels. An area that gets a lot of rough handling. If it is like a lacquer or enamel paint, I think it would start peeling an hour after I installed them. Has anyone tried this? Does it work and will it hold up in this area? Or just leave the dull plastic panels alone instead of ruining them. (I'm not selling the car, I'm in it for the long haul, so I don't want it just looking good for just a few weeks! I want to do this right.)

That is because the items were not prepped correctly.

Speaking from experience you gotta follow the manufacturers paint prep 100% for it to work. Anything less and it will fail. Even then you gotta be 120% through in your prep, anything less and it will fail.

I have had painted parts that I prepped and it has lasted many years, then on parts that were painted the same day near the last of the batch were I must have gotten lazy on prep, and those failed.

SEM is some of the best for interior out there.I have dyed many things and it does not flake or rub off when prepped correctly
