Thats a cool project.

First get rid of those helper springs on the shocks. The shock mounts were not designed to hold weight and can bust through. The same applies air shocks.

I saw you had brand new glasspacks on it and ditched them for Flowmaster. The exhaust system looks nice, but I would dump the Flows. I had them on my 65 for a while. The drone and are just annoying. I recommend Dynomax or Magnaflow or similar.

What color is it going to be?

no, the owner before the last on put them on because the leaf springs started sagging. he said they were overload springs.. the springs will be gone once i do suspension.

Most kids that get a car just trash the hell out of it because mommy and daddy bought it and they did nothing for it so they don't appreciate it. Nice work so far. Please keep this thread updated with your progress. I really enjoy seeing this type of thing. Can't wait to see more.

thanks! i will keep this thread updated.

the car is going to be black. i will get rid of the overload springs when i do suspension.

i didn't really like the sound of the cherry bombs that the previous owner had. i looked on youtube and liked the sound of the flow. i haven't noticed much drone with the flowmasters and so far i like it a lot. what were you running header back that made you ditch them?

figured i would provide an update since it has been a week or so. Going to car shows aren't helping me out any. The more i go to, the more things i want done to my car.

I think i have changed my mind on painting the car myself. Someone i know has a very good painter that might workout a deal with me. (keeping my fingers crossed). I am going to paint the door jams, inside the trunk, under the hood, and the engine bay black and have a painter do the rest. since i am going to be doing the enigne bay i am going to have to remove the electrical wires, and while i am at it, i am going to pull the rest of the electrical system. After researching around on wiring harnasses i decided to buy this wiring harness: http://stores.homestead.com/ez2wire/...sal/Detail.bok

I received my front valance, side scoops, and rear bumper. I went ahead and removed the entire front end for installing the front valence, haven't gotten around to drill the holes and install it. I am going to be doing the side scoops within a couple of weeks. I believe one last sand job on the hood scoop will be done. Hopefully this weekend i can have the hood done, the rest of the emblem holes filled and sanded, and start to do the side scoops.

One done with that, i will get estimates on paint jobs. Don't know what to expect on prices. I plan on stripping the paint to metal then taking it to the painter/bodyshop to align the body, and do very minor body work, as i will have fixed dents and such. The paint will be black single stage paint. What do you guys predict the cost of the paint job would be considering what i will do. I know it depends, but i would like a good ballpark figure.

Black should look sinister. Are you keeping all the chrome and trim or are you deleting some of it?

I have Headers, H pipe, with the tail pipes straight out the back and the exhaust is 2.5 inch.

I have Dynomax UltraFlo Welded now. It has a more old school sound and I think it sounds perfect.

I have a 5 speed and at about 2k RPM on the highway running about 70-75 it was just obnoxious inside the car and was even worse with the windows up with the Flowmaster.

Flowmaster is one of the worst performance mufflers there is. They just have good marketing. Besides everyone seems to have them. I'm sick of them.

Any of the straight through mufflers is a far better choice.

Also, I didn't want my 65 to sound like a late model Fox body. Besides that they have a hollow tin can sound.

Thanks, i don't know what you are referring to as of getting done soon, the entire car won't be done for two years. Im thining about 1 year and 2 months for everything except engine. and about 8 months to save up for engine. don't know just guessing off the top of my head.
