Default Holes under windshield trim?

There is a hole in the top of both side of my windshield frame. Under the window trim at the top of both side windshield posts in the lead-work. The holes are about 1/8"th inch in size and look to be originally made with the vehicle. They are right under the curved piece of window trim.
When I removed the trim I found the former owner had filled them with orange "form-a-gasket" like he did all drain-holes under the carpet, seats and trunk.
The holes go through into the posts, so I was thinking that maybe they were supposed to be vents or something, but I have no idea really. I just finished painting the window frames/bays with POR (Where the glass and rubber gasket go). but I don't know if these holes should be filled or left open. Water could leak in through them, but it could also allow a vent for moisture if it accumulates inside the posts. Do I leave them open or plug them with seam sealer or body filler or something?

A pic would help, but it sounds like the trim pegs. sorry I don't know the proper term for these little pegs the trim tabs attach to. They do break or rust off and are usually replaced with small screws. I've even heard of nails being used and tac welded to size/fit. Can anyone contribute input to repairing trim pegs for a windshield?

64-65 cars had screws fastening the moulding clips.

These are not screw holes for the clips. The screw holes are larger and show signs of threads. Plus the count would be 2 higher than the required clips for this car and they would face the wrong way if I tried to put clips here.(would not make contact with the trim)
They are flush flat against and at the very top corners on the window posts. Outside where the rubber gasket would mount, but still under the trim. Outside the area where the black window sealant goo would go even.
They don't look like they would ever have a screw mounted in them (no threads), more like a plug or a vent hole of some type. I'll try and post a picture in an hour or so, once it is light enough outside to get a good picture.

OK, Here's the picture. The hole I am talking about is the one at the upper left corner of the Black POR paint (top left in picture of right window pillar). The screw holes for the window clips are also visible. They are on the vertical surface (to the trim) as this hole would be horizontal and would not allow a clip to connect to the trim. So it is not for a trim clip screw.
The hole is at the very top of where the window trim covers, but also outside the area the window gasket fits into (you can see the curved area for the window gasket to the left of the hole).
I am thinking that this hole may have been used to align the pillar during original installation and may have been filled with body filler or seam sealer.

No, it's not supposed to be there. Ford did not align the pinchwelds with holes in these areas. More likely, some high school kid did it sometime in 1977 to screw the trim on. Get your welder out and eliminate the holes. If the headliner is installed, don't, just clean and epoxy them.

Excellent, Thank YOU! No Headliner yet, but as you can tell, I have coated the windshield frame with POR after removing all the rust humanly possible. So I will be going with a 2-part Epoxy Plug instead of a welded plug. Should be just as permanent after a light sanding, plugging, sanding again and then top-coated with epoxy primer.
Sure it wasn't during 1976?
Thanks for taking the time to help!
