Default Twisted Wedge heads question

I found a set of Trick Flow TW heads and most likely will be buying them later this week. They are the older model that allow pedestal mount rockers, which will be included.

I read and read as much as I could before I made an offer, but still have a couple of questions. I know TF discontinued pedestal mounts and wondering if I should worry about pedestal breakage with a mild motor.

These TW heads don't need pushrod guideplates correct?

Finally, is anyone currently running these and is there anything I should know?
Thanks

No, you don't need guide plates with pedestal rockers.

I wouldn't worry about breaking anything unless you're running some serious lift, more than you'd probably want to run on a mild 302.

I just installed a set of stud-mount rocker twisted wedges on my 331. I love them

Well I backed out of the deal. I called Trick Flow today to see if there were any special instructions or gaskets to use and was told they only made the pedestal mount heads one year. He told me they stopped because of problems with premature valve guide failure. They wouldn't be the best used heads to buy I was also told. Soooooooooooooooooooooo... maybe new? We'll see.

they are still great heads, the premature valve guide failure was common on the early TW heads, offer a lower price........

Offer a lower price, get the heads, and have them machined for screw in studs and guide plates. WIN!

You know at the price he agreed on I would almost better served to buy new, as it would only total about $400 more and that would include Trickflow rockers, gaskets, bolts, locating dowels, spark plugs, etc...

Then I still have a set of GT40 heads that I did some home porting on, sitting here needing to go to the machine shop. Can you tell I get easily distracted?
