I'm sure rack and pinion is wonderful, but again, is it over kill for a street driven car? My suggestion is when you do the front suspension, if you were to also add,,,,
- new inner and outer tie rods
- new roller idler arm (I do like the roller here)
- and lastly, a rebuilt, or better yet NEW Steering box

you'll be more than happy with the way it drives.

I have to agree. R&P is overkill for most purposes. You can replace the entire steering system for a fraction of the cost of R&P. Looks really groovy at cruise night, though.

It is interesting that you say that, because I have gone back and fourth on what a "street car" really is. The term gets used a lot on here and there isnt really a definitive definition of it. Now, in this case, from reading the OPs comments he is going to be using his car for A to B and not much racing so its just a cruiser. Whereas to me, whenever the street is clear of other cars, people, and random objects (basically when its safe) its just a big track. If no one is around on a straight road why not practice a launch when the light goes green, or if the corner is clear why not practice a drift? Lots of people drive around in 9 or 10 second cars that are street legal, being a street car (less slicks). If you are on a deserted mountain highway, I wouldnt define coilovers as overkill, that would be the time I wish I could afford them. It seems to me its less of being a street car, and more of what kind of car you want to be using on the street. But that's just me, and I am sure a lot of the concourse guys will disagree, but I think most of the pro-tourers will agree.
