Default greasing ball joints

Hey guys,

I borrowed my friend's grease gun and was going through all the zerc fittings. I was able to do about 3 pumps into the lower control ball joint, when the grease started coming out of the bottom edge. However, the ball joint was still soft as if it's empty inside. Should I continue to pump it even though some amount is coming out through the edges? Or is it full and ok?

Thanks

If its coming out of the edges then adding more won't really do any good. You may need to bounce up and down on the front of the car some and then try to add more grease. You'll need to put the tires back on to try that. Sometimes that will allow more grease to go in.

Did your lower control arm come fully assembled? If it did, it may have already been greased. I know my upper A arms came like that. I can't remember if the lowering ones did or not.

Many ball joints come with a relief in the boot edge to prevent "popping" the boot like a balloon.

The LCA was already assembled when I purchased it. I'll make note to check it once the tire is in, and to double check all the joints again after driving...

I was disappointed that my LCA ball joint is a sealed unit, no spot for a zerk fitting. I don't know if this will be good or bad haha
