Looks like a great car to start with. The only change I would make in your plan is put that AOD in right away, you won't regret it. Besides your C4 may never die.

That oil puddle looks like it is right under the filter. I'm thinking the po probably changed the oil and when he took the old filter off if leaked a little on the ground.

i braved the cold last night to check under the car again because you guys had me second guessing myself, its still bone dry under the car so i can relax once again...lol. have a question for you guys, how do the shock towers mate to the aprons? i see some bolts but looking at it it looks like welds also. the reason being i have a couple holes in them right at the very botton of the sides of the engine mounts and want to know whether i should replace the whole thing or just patch the holes and move on to suspension work.

Inner shock towers are welded to the aprons. Here's pix of ours being installed:

ugh... well that should provide for some fun, thanks for the pics. ill have to get in there and locate the holes exactly to see what the best repair method is. its not going to be a concours car so looking original isnt my top priority...

Let me know if you need any other pix of how things go together. We have full photographic documentation of the restoration on our car.
