electric choke and first start question
if it's 180 it should backfire a lot. yours doesn't seem to do anything.
just as info. when the distributor is 180 degrees out, most people pull the distributor, rotate the rotor 180 and shove it back in. you can easliy just swap the spark plus on cap.
swap every plug on cap with the one exactly across. do that 4 times (so you have all pairs) and you're 180 degrees out now. it's easier to do it this way for a quick test
but if you have spark and fuel it should fire up or backfire. at least do something ? try as well turning the dfistributor while cranking, maybe you're a bit off.
do you know how to set distributor in place correctly? have you doublechecked TDC?

I finally got it started. The timing was not 180 but pretty off. I reset everything and made sure the rotor was pointing at #1 and it turned over. Originally the rotor was pointing more towards #8. I didn't think it would make that much of a difference.
