Here is the link to the car I was originally looking at. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst...613558136.html
the person that is selling isn't calling me back so it's probably a moot point anyway.
There are a couple of other craigslist posts I'm following up on and I'm going to view a '66 in riverside tomorrow that has been sitting in storage for 6 months and needs a battery and it's radiator put back in. It looks like it's in good condition from the pictures and the conversation I had with the guy and will probably just needs a new radiator and a good tune up and flush the fluids, but I won't really know for sure until tomorrow

takes about 30$ for a used or fixed one and and maybe the same again in fluids. mayeb an hours work. I am well surprised the owner was not curious enough to actually do it to have it running and sell for more or see if it's actually running ?!

THe first add that you posted seems to high of a price for me. i have a 66 and i had to restore it. I got the car for free and i still have about $13k into it. I also did a lot of the work myself.
If you start with a $7k car you will still need at least $10k to make it nice. You will then have $17k into a 66 coupe. Way to much money. You should be able to find a 65-66 coupe fully restored to driving condition for around $12-$13k

If you are looking for something to restore you should be looking for something between $2k and $5k.

If you are serious there is a guy that lives by me that has a 66 fastback fully assembled but not running that he will let go for about $7k. the body is perfect. It has been sitting in a lot here in the desert in AZ for about 30 years. no rust at all! i will swing by his house this weekend and see if he is still interested in getting rid of it.

It was going to be my next project but i am going to build a 32 ford instead. I am only about 5 hours from Riverside.

Thanks but the AZ is a little too far out of my range at the moment i'd like to find one that is at most an hour's drive from my place.

I looked at the first ad in tucson and why is it that people say they have a 289 that is bored out to a 302? Like that makes it a 302. It makes it a bored out 289. I did the math on this over bore and it would have to bored out .090 over to get to a 302. I would not want a 289 that is bored .090 over. I'm not even sure it can be bored .090 over.

For my money I would rather have a car that has not been touched. Every one thinks they are experts until you start looking close at their work. You just never know what you are going to get on these cars that say "80% restored". To me restored is like pregnant, you either are or are not. If you are not then that means you spent a bunch of money, did a bunch of work but can't figure out how to get it done.

The original deal did not look too bad to me. If he could talk him down from $7000. It's nice to find a factory air car.
