I have two 67 mustangs, one that i drive and one for parts. The one I have for parts has power steering. The one that I drivedosen't. I was wondering if it was possible to put the power steering on the one that I drive which has a 289. And if so, how would I mount the pump. My parts car dosen't have the engine or trans.

The swap will be easy most good parts stores will be able to get the ps hoses. You will need to go to a wrecking yard or a used mustang parts house and get the mounting bracket , pulley and bolts and a old ps pump to rebuild or use as a core. You can use parts off any old ford with a 289/302 falcon cougar bronco galaxy these will all work. Good luck

How well does the power steering work? It dosen't look like true power steering, it looks more like a power assist or something. I was just wonderin how well it worksand if it is worth putting it on.

The ps is nice for parking or slow turns. The manual steering is nicer for driving on mountian/country roads you have a better feel for the road.

Does it work well enough so that I could put a smaller custom steering wheel on it? And still be able to turn it easily?

lets put it this way, the haynes manual says that a correctly working power steering system on these things is supposed to take a whopping 6lbs of force to turn the steering wheel, I can park on the street, turn the wheel really fast and it'll keep turning for about half a turn, I'd say that's enough proof that a smaller steering wheel will work
