69 Dash Lights Mustang
Hello. I can't for the life of me figure out whats going on with these dash light. It came out of storage two years ago and soon as I pulled the headlight **** it popped a fuse. I checked wires out and appear to be good since I am getting steady voltage here is the spec's below.
Meter Fluke77
Volts:11.73(Battery voltage weak)
Ohm's Resistance:1.973
A(guessing amps):.2-.3 going back and forth
Replaced headlight switch and dash cluster.
Everything else works fine on the dash just not the lights
Thanks

hmm if it was short to ground it would be hot at all times and would pop soon as I put it in there. Yet only pop's when I turn the headlights on(also turns on dash lights) meaning there is a short some were in the cluster area? Could it be Dash Circuit Regulator like I have been told? Since there isn't any spec's to check that out I figure I would ask
Really the voltage and resistance is good I think based on nothing to high meaning there is a good connection.

It can be a short to ground still. It is just shorting after the headlight switch. That means the wire from the fuse to the headlight switch is good."if" the problem is in the cluster remove the clusters electrical connections then try the lights. "if" the fuse blows it is not the cluster. but could be in the wiring to the cluster. i'm not sure if the headlights and taillights are connected to that same fuse, but if they go out when the fuse blows it could be in their wiring too. and if the fuse didn't blow with the cluster pulled reconnect the cluster and try again "if" the fuse blows check the cluster for damage. "if" it still doesn't blow when the cluster is connected now, you may moved the wires enough that it is not shorting now but, "will" come back if the damaged wire is not fixed.
