Unhappy transmission cooling lines

Ok I have a 72 which had a 4 core radiator {with the cooling lines on the driver side vertical part of the radiator} I bought an aluminum radiator from summit and the the cooling line entries are in the same location.I ordered cooling lines from NPD or The Mustang Shop here in Canada {can't remember which one it was so long ago. But the lines don't seem right the look like they should connect on the bottom horizontal part of the radiator. Were there 2 different radiators on the 71,72,73 mustangs? Totally confused need some help because i am getting my engine back in a week or 2 and would like to have everything ready to drop it right in.

Thanks for any reply's

What transmission do you have and what part number is the radiator and what part number is the cooler lines?

In 71 ford went to horizontal flow with the lines crossing along the bottom of the radiator support. 70 and earlier the Radiator was vertical flow and the lines hooked to the bottom of the radiator. It sounds like you got a set of 70 or earlier lines.

As far as i know there were no vertical flow radiators after 71 but i dont know the 71-73s that well.

You are correct- 71-73 were cross-flow.

So I decided to go with braided stainless steel lines because I couldn't find any lines that would fit my summit radiator. And it will look ten times better.I got the lines built up at the local hydraulics shop. They were are all assembled with industrial hardware so I don't have to worry about the fittings getting loose. It came to 125$ which I think is pretty good if you compare the cost of buying and shipping for the steel lines {which I now have for sale}So if anyone wants stock trany cooling lines for 71,72,73 write me up.

I just get bulk tubing then bend and flare my own lines. It isnt that difficult and the bulk is cheap. The braided lines will look good though, its an option if you can route them away from the exhaust. Come to think of it, that is one of the things I need to do on the Cougar. Perhaps I should spend some time on that car and get it on the road this year.
