Exclamation Crack In C4 Tranny Case

What is the usual way a crack would be repaired in a C4 tranny case? Or can it be fixed? It's a slight crack but just big enough for fluid to leak out of it.

Such things can be TIG welded, (and other means) but the person doing it must be expert.

There are some aluminum repairs here that are amazing:

I dont know where the crack is but for a very short term. You can buy some two part plumbers putty from a hardware store and put that over the crack.

For long term TIG has already been mentioned. For a small crack bepending on location it could be drilled out, tapped and a plug installed.

However i would avoid both of these and just buy another C-4. They can be found for 100-200 dollars and in the long run you will be better off. Price wise it will probably be about the same cost to repair as to find another C-4. The only reason to go with a repair to the old case is if you have a concours correct car and need to use the old tranny to maintain this.
