Default Studs or Bolts

We just acquired a 1967 coupe, as a project car for my son and I (new to Mustangs - former Z car guy). We're planning the motor rebuild as a class project.

The car was in pieces when we picked it up, and one question that's come up is whether we can use studs rather than bolts for the heads.

Is there enough clearance in a stock '67 to pull the heads if you use studs? Or do other accessories get in the way.

Any help appreciated,

Todd

Prolly can't pull it with studs, but it will depend on how the engine sits. Studs are unnecessary really, they only provide slightly more accurate torque ratings, which isn't needed unless you're building an absolute monster where head gasket retention is critical. And they're nice for engines that get tore down a lot.

Yeah, studs are pretty much a race car deal.

I'd use studs for the main caps (and a windage tray) on any engine, though.

Default Thanks for the feedback

So much to learn. So much aftermarket to sift through.

Which is a good thing, but the learning curve is steep.
