Default Steering column goes flop.

So I took my column apart when I replaced the box with a rack and removed the POS grant wheel. I re-installed that tapered bearing thingy that poped out at me, but it really just looked like a shell and it was split. Is it supposed to be split? It keeps sliding up and then it gets all "floppy", I even made a spacer that fits over it to keep it in place temporarily because I cant tell what I am missing? The new one I see on line is not split?

Does anyone have a legible exploded diagram of the 65 column? I need to order new parts but I cant find a decent parts list to see what I need to order?

Here is the plastic version of what I have, mine is metal and has a split in it, but its just a shell. I guess I need to use the spring to hold it in place?

Then I see this bearing, I am going to go ahead and replace it I guess?

Yes, your spring is missing. Everybody has this spring, Glazier Nolan calls it G04019. It's not even expensive, and it'll really tighten up your steering, compared to what you have now.

I think I have the spring...I think I thought it was part of the horn setup from that grant wheel. I'll try it out , thanks.
